about
Talkin’ ‘Bout a Revolution is the much-anticipated début single from the all-female HEARD collective. This cover of Tracy Chapman's iconic song was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and was originally released for International Women’s Day. The track features instrumental and vocal performances from 11 diverse female artists from the folk, pop and indie music world: Cerian, Daisy Chute, Roxanne de Bastion, Kal Lavelle, Fabia Anderson, Lin Hamami, Jelly Cleaver, Elisabeth Flett, Jessie Reid, Susie Blankfield and Rosie Bergonzi.
HEARD was co-founded by multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters Daisy Chute and Cerian after they met in the studio recording vocals for Radiohead’s latest album A Moon Shaped Pool. The collective was born out of a desire for more female representation in the music industry and to create a community who would tour together, support one another and inspire a new generation of female music-makers.
Between them the HEARD Collective play over a dozen different instruments and their recording of Talkin’ ‘Bout a Revolution features harp, banjo, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, cello, fiddle, percussion and 8-part vocal harmonies. Co-produced by Daisy and Cerian, the arrangement showcases some of the best up-and-coming independent female artists and breathes new life into a pertinent and well-loved classic.
